FREE Career Crisis Skills Conference - NYC, 18 October

Manager Tools will present a FREE, one day Career Crisis Skills Conference, on 18 October, to help those affected by the financial and credit market troubles.

We will conduct the training/seminar at the Marriott East Side in Manhattan (map, sw corner 49th and Lex), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be room for 300 attendees on a first come, first served basis. We apologize for the limitations, but we couldn't get bigger space for a reasonable price fast enough.

This conference will be FREE. We won't be trying to sell anything in the back of the ballroom. We're doing this training free to address many of our listeners and members who have called and emailed asking, "What do I do?"

If you yourself can't make it, please share this information with anyone who might need this free help in the greater NYC area.

We will cover 4 major topics:

Your Resume - The one's we've seen in the last 1-2 weeks needed LOTS of help.

Your Preparation
- How to get ready to interview (and improve your resume).

Your Search - Things you can do now, and how to do them.

Your Interviews - All five parts of every interview, what's going to happen and what to do in each step.

Again, this training is FREE. We're doing this to help members and other professionals affected by the difficulties in the financial industries recently.

M&M, Thank you, what a wonderful

M&M,

Thank you, what a wonderful offer! You are so very generous! I am at this moment (simultaneously) looking for flight tickets to NY!

The job market in Sweden is starting to weaken too. This topic of getting/be prepared to find a new job is really in many peoples head right now.

Thanks again for the amazing offer. You are truly wishing peoples best and this offer is just another evidence of that!

Best regards
Erik

Mike and Mark, Great effort. I am in

Mike and Mark,
Great effort. I am in indeed touched with your recent efforts to work your bit for this unprecedented crisis which is taking a hit on the careers. While the situation here in this part of the world is not as bad as out there, it is good to know the happening and be mentally tuned for the worst should such situation happen here too later rather than sooner.

Keep up the great work, we are proud to be part of this community.

Had I a hat, I'd take it off in respect for your indefatigable work for this community and those in need.

With first come first serve, what

With first come first serve, what happens if 800 people show up? Is this something people should register for somewhere?

Well done gents! You really take

Well done gents! You really take "serving" very seriously.

Folks- Thanks for the kind words.

Folks-

Thanks for the kind words. Hope you will help us get the word out, and/or attend.

There won't be any registrations. We're sorry, but 300 is the biggest venue we could get that was reasonably priced, and we feel that if we allow registrations, some may not show who register, which would be wasteful.

Yes, we run the risk of having to turn people away (or of only having 50 people show up), and we're sorry for that.

Mark

Dears Mike and Mark: Wow! I am

Dears Mike and Mark:

Wow! I am amazed at your drive to help people.

Because of my job (equity analyst in a major brokerage house in Spain) I think I can say without sounding stupid that I work on the front lines of the credit crisis, and wherever I look there is fear about how fast things are unraveling.

May I offer one suggestion? Since the event is free and in order to avoid a frenzy of people eager to get in, why not tape it and post it a little bit later? Or at least the most important segments.

I understand is another hassle, but consider this:

1) I think the video will be shared in a BIG way, thus increasing the buzz about MT.

2) It will be a great consolation prize for the people that would LOVE to attend but can't make because of being overseas. It will also reduce the stress of people that, even though they live in the US or close to NYC, cannot attend for several reasons.

You two continue to amaze. It is clear that you live by your words “give until it hurts”. I hope you receive just as much support in return.

Thank you,

Mark,
I see there will not be any registration.
Any priority for premium members?
I am interested to attend.
Driving in from CT, approx 2 hrs away.
Willing to come down early.
Interested to maximize chances for participation.
Steve

Steve- Mike and I haven't discussed

Steve-

Mike and I haven't discussed priority, and I think it's unlikely. We fear that any advance work creates management challenges the morning of. We realize this makes it harder - sorry for the difficulties. We've never done this before, so we're doing our best to balance the competing forces.

I hate to say it, but my fear is that we'll tell people to get there at 6 am "just to be certain" and we will only end up with 100 people and will feel like we asked folks to go WAY out of their way. Or, the opposite, and folks will be turned away.

Look forward to meeting you.

Mark

The US should bring in pierages.

The US should bring in pierages. Service to the Business Community on this scale is worth an award.

Well done.

Selflessness on this scale certainly

Selflessness on this scale certainly makes Jesus smile from heaven. Mike and Mark, may God bless you a million times for every word you utter at that workshop.

An idea crossed my mind this morning as I was listening to a cast: I am avid user of mindmaps and I use the open source tool Freemind. I find them a quick way to review stuff especially with your knack for steps and procedures. I plan to create mindmaps of some important casts. Would you host them as a free resource for other listeners?

Is there a way to register or is does

Is there a way to register or is does first come first served mean show up early?

Escuccim- It does mean show up

Escuccim-

It does mean show up early. We were worried that many would register and then perhaps not show, and there would be seats empty that could have been filled. We know it creates a bit of a burden, and we apologize it can't be more precise.

Mark

I am impressed with your efforts. We

I am impressed with your efforts. We can do this crisis if we all pitch in. You have laid down your puzzle piece, now others can do the same. thanks.

Thanks for the wonderful event guys! I

Thanks for the wonderful event guys!
I am so glad it worked out that I happened to be in NYC for other business and was able to make it.
Those were probably the most valuable 8 hours I have ever spent in training. I thought I had my resume written according to the podcast and thought I was prepared for interviewing, but after hearing the content presented in person and hearing the questions asked, I have a good bit of work to do. I am so glad I went to this before I applied for a job I really want. Now I may actually have a chance at getting it.

Thanks Guys,
Troy

As usual Mark and Mike put on another

As usual Mark and Mike put on another amazing event. Mark gave it his all for 8 straight hours. Even after listening to the entire Interview series (which are incredible), I still gained much especially on the prep process. Even Wendy (resume reviewer) from London was there providing her insight. Incredible event! If this event is ever repeated make the effort the attend and spread the word - even if there is fee!

Thanks Troy and Andy- We're glad you
