A Nice Note About Voting
We sent out an email today, asking everyone to vote for us at the Podcast Awards (reminder: you can vote every day!...and you can just click on the ad at the top left of our home page, too).
We were pleasantly surprised by how many nice notes we got BACK saying thanks for the reminder, and how happy folks were to vote for us. It's late, I'm tired, had a rough day, and those notes were just a great way to take a late night break.
Here's an example:
Thanks for the reminder! Your e-mail gave me an opportunity to let
the folks at Podcast Awards know, "I didn't start listening to
Manager-Tools because I had an i-Pod. I bought an iPod because I
wanted to listen to Manager-Tools."A raving fan,
Tim McCormick
Tim, thanks. Notes like yours make jobs like ours even better.
And to all of our community, whether you vote or not: THANK YOU. it's a privilege to serve you every day, and some days it's a dream come true.

Yep, we won't argue with other uses. But our guidance was for managers.

BTW - given the recent blog post on Twitter, ironically it was thanks to a daily tweet from another podcast encouraging me to vote for them that reminded me to cast my votes every 24 hours. It wasn't another business podcast, so you both benefited.
On the subject of Twitter, I took your recent blog comments to indicate it is yet another distraction - like email- for managers who are not disciplined about their time. Your points are well made, but I believe the fault lies with the user not the service as Twitter is proving a good communications tool in some specific instances. For example, after Hurricane Ike one Galveston reporter used it very effectively, as did LA Fire Dept during the recent fires around the city.

NAChapman-
Thank you. We're honored to be considered, and the competition is humbling. We always harbor this secret hope that one of the folks with the huge brand names - Bloomberg, Economist, Marketplace (nothing against the others all vying) - say to themselves, ala Butch and Sundance.... "who are those guys?"
We consider ourselves lucky indeed to be keeping the company of our members.

Whether you win or not - and I
Whether you win or not - and I sincerely hope you do in the categories Manager Tools is up for- I think it's a great testament to the show that you find yourself competing with the Economist for the business podcast award. An amazing achievement and in that sense you are judged by the company you keep...
WOW! Awesome. We're honored that

We're honored that you did and hope to keep your purchase one that returns great value for years to come.
