    Hi Gents, catching up on the casts whilst driving interstate for client meetings. Couple of follow on questions.

    With body language when you have a panel interview (ie say 3 people rather than the more traditional 1:1 series), any suggestions? Sometimes panel interviews might be aournd a table, but others I have experience are in an executive suite with a lounge setting.

    Also have you come across the increasing style of interview in the public sector (at least in aspects of the public sector in Australia) where there is not a dialogue but a series of pre approved questions that the interviewee has to respond to without any follow on /clarification questions? Any suggestions to help people “shine” in these asycnhronis interview?

    No special guidance on group interview gestures, other than making sure that they are coherent with your message.

    On the other, a galactically stupid idea: No changes. Our interview prep gives you what you need.

    In one Joseph Finder novel the main character is coached to mirror his interviewer’s body language. Sit forward when she sits forward, fold your arms when she fold hers, cross your legs when she does, etc.

    I was wondering, what would the maestros at Manager Tools say to this?

    Justin-

    We disagree. Mirroring is a clumsy attempt to dumbly mimic others, rather than making small changes in your delivery when communicating. Mirroriing ends up being a distraction, because you can’t do it with integrity in the mind of the listener.
