Manager Tools Site Upgrade

January 13th, 2008

Folks,

I apologize for the late notice, but tonight we’ll be doing a site upgrade and will be down for up to 2 hours staring at approximately 10pm Eastern.

The upgrade, assuming all goes well, will be a fairly significant upgrade in hardware — the first step in more upgrades to come. Although at first you’ll simply see a “snappier” website, we have plenty in more in store for the future … stay tune!

Thanks for your patience while we complete these upgrades!

Regards,
Mike

Jan 13, 2008 Update

9:19am EasternAlthough most functions appear to be working, we’re still working through a few issues (access to password protected RSS feeds and premium content links, for example). We think we’ve identified the issue and should have it working shortly.

1:15pm Eastern Thanks for your patience … with the exception of a few cosmetic issues, everything should be fully functional now. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you see any issues!

Digg!    Stumble it!

I agree, it’s really really snappy! I bet your goal was “0 seconds loading time for html documents by (insert number between 0 and 32 and a month next to it)” ;-)

    Mike, you rock!

Excellent work guys! It’s now one of the fastest websites that I use.
One problem though, the search is not working for me, is this due to the upgrade or something irrelevant?

Keep up the good work! :)

    Harry,

Looks like the search function is broken … I don’t know why, it’s the one thing that DIDN’T move. Ugh! :-)

    I’ll take a look … thanks!

I agree, I think search.manager-tools.com didn’t get defined in the new enviornment.

Just curious: What’s the 5digit hexcode for that appears first time I’m served one of the pages?

  8. mauzenne Says:

    arsenjew,

First time I’ve heard of that … if anyone has a screen shot, I’d love to see it.

    thanks,
    Mike

Part 3 of the Annual Goals Podcast will not update .[ITUNES]

I am able to get current updates from other Podcasts.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks.

    algatto,

Would love to help … can you be more specific as to what you are seeing when you try to update?

I’m getting ahead of myself, but more than likely, you have a corrupted download of the show. You may wish to try deleting the show, alt-clicking the disclosure triangle next to the Manager Tools show in your iTunes podcast list (essentially reloading the list of shows), and then try getting the problematic show again. In most cases, this solves the problem. (it’s alt-click on the Mac, it may be different on the PC)

I am receiving an “error opening file” on all of the podcasts I try to listen to over my pc. It occurs both when I am signed in as a member and as guest. It was fine yesterday. Help??

  12. algatto4 Says:

Thanks Mark - basically what happens is I don’t seem to be receiving the lastest cast - My ITUNES doesn’t update with the latest cast. I have casts 1 and 2 - They update usually on Sunday evenings

  13. algatto4 Says:

Ok - we’re back in business. I deleted my ITUNES and reloaded a newer version(7.6)
Reloading the podcasts now, including #3 of Annual Goals now.

    Not sure what happened.

    Thanks again.

ps - looking forward to a cast(s) specifically addressing being an effective I.T. Team Leader.
