An Exception! (Show Suggestions, Part Three)
October 5th, 2006Okay, after my recent post about us not doing interviews, we’re making an exception.
We’ll be interviewing Marshall Goldsmith in an upcoming cast.
Now, see? Wasn’t that worth the exception? If you don’t know him, rest assured is surely the most acclaimed executive leadership coach of our times. His ideas resonate with Mike and I, and he is brilliant and insightful about the lives and work of managers.
Furthermore, Marshall has noticed that a lot of you go to his site from ours, and has agreed to do a series of casts with us. Yet still further, he has offered to host a number of our casts on his site (and we did not undertake this agreement lightly).
Finally, he has asked me to allow him to include me in his Top 25 Management Thinkers list. I accepted.
More soon as we work out the logistics.

I’m thrilled about this! Ever since July when JonP brought Marshall’s site to my attention on the Manager Tools discussion forum, I’ve been working my way through a number of the articles he’s penned. His experience and expertise on behavioral coaching gives such credibility to his methods. It’s great stuff.
Anecdotally, just the other day I was looking at his Top 25 Management Thought Leaders list and thinking that Mark & Mike should have a place in that list. Congratulations on your inclusion - it is certainly well-deserved. And today his monthly newsletter arrived with an article on keeping an organization’s talent engaged which addressed specifically an issue I have been pondering in my own work.
This is a great partnership and I have high hopes for what it will bring!

regas14 - glad you getting a lot out of Marshall’s work. He is one of my top 5 influences. He is really accessible too. I’ve met him. I’ve exchanged emails with him and some conference calls. I couldn’t believe he made the time for me. Plus, he is the ONLY consultant I’ve found to GIVE AWAY all his work for free.
Mark - thanks for making this exception. Please ask him for his opinion on your feedback model since he’s so passionate about feedforward. I suspect he’ll say he has no problem with your model and just that he’s found his model works better.
