How Many Casts? How Long?
June 28th, 2006I was on Podcast Alley the other day, seeing how we were doing in the rankings, and I saw a comment that said, “18 shows in and this is still a great cast!” I still laugh when I read it.
It still surprises me that some folks wonder how long we can continue. So, just for the record:
We have approximately 500 shows that we WILL do. We have 100 shows slated NOW. Some of those are absolutely multiple part shows.
And there will ALWAYS be free casts.
Happy Anniversary, everybody!

Congratulations on what you’ve achieved so far. It’s great to know what’s coming up. As a self-employed person in New Zealand with no staff I am far from your target audience, but I download each cast and listen with interest. I learn a great deal from each one.
Many thanks for sharing your expertise in this way.

Happy to do it. Glad you’re a member and learning - that’s why we’re here.
Love your country - one of the most friendly of all that I have traveled to. Spent 45 days in Waiouru on the North Island as an officer with the US Army. Was treated fabulously. Highlight of the trip (83) was being in a pub when the All Blacks beat the British Lions 39-6, I think, in Rugby, the biggest drubbing of the rivalry ever. I couldn’t have paid a million dollars for a beer - it was all free. Brilliant good time.

Jon-
Well, that’s one way to put it! Happy to do it.
If we can make some money this year, things will be a little less painful…but it’s still great fun.

Dear Mark and Mike,
I have been recovering this spring from an extensive back surgery to correct my scoliosis. Part of my recovery was an edict from my surgeon to walk, walk, walk. Imagine my glee when I came across your podcasts and proceeded to load up my iPod with every one of your (members only too) casts. Walking two miles a day I have really, really enjoyed, and learned from, your podcasts. When I go back to work next week, I’ll be better for it.
Thank you so much. And ‘boo’ to complaints about your informative, FREE, wonderful, FREE casts. I’m always blown away when I see you two responding so regularly on the boards, giving so generously of your time.
Also, kudos to you Mark for not lumping Austrailia and New Zealand together. I’m married to a Kiwi and always love it when NZ gets it’s props. It’s a lovely country on many levels.
Good luck to you both this year. and keep up the great work. I look forward to hearing your new format.

Lisa-
I made a pact that yours would be the last post I’d answer before going to bed tonight, and what a GEM! I will sleep all the better for it. It’s 1:30 am here.
Thank you for the kind words. We are loath to say boo to those who have issues with our casts (and trust me, you haven’t seen the “best” of them.) We are glad to do the free casts, and notes like yours are, for now, our paycheck.
Tonight, the pay was fantastic!
Glad you’re getting better, and we were a small part of it.
It’s always a privilege to do this… and then some days are just a DELIGHT.

Happy birthday to MT !!
After one year it should be able to walk with its own legs….but it is already running ! Thank for your efforts that is uncomparable: I always look for podcasts but nothing is similar for content, quality and applicability.
You are starting to be familiar also for my children: they are getting used when they switch on the CD reader in my car and hear your voices (just to say how I am involved !)
Many thanks again also for the improvement in my “fluent” english

Grazie! So glad you’re a listener and a member and you take the time to write.
Mike and I are both fathers, and we have a special place in our hearts for the moms and dads out there working to be great parents and great managers. it’s not easy, but never confuse a good life with an easy life.
Your english is excellent!
It’s a privilege to serve you.

Hi Mark and Mike,
I have been listening regularly now for a few months and have been meaning to write this since after the first few casts. It could be said that I am far from your target audience; I am not a manager and have no desire to become one, though I admire good management and organisation. I am a contractor Business Analyst and climbing the corporate ladder is not an ambition either, yet I have learned from each and every podcast from MT and I believe I have almost caught up on all the ones released so far. I particularly enjoyed the members only DISC series and look forward to any others on DISC. I have raved about your podcasts to several people at work. I love the applicability of the content, the unpretentious delivery and your generosity of spirit. It’s obvious you enjoy what you do for a living. That has been my main goal professionally and I have managed to achieve it and maintain it for the last 10 years. Listening to your podcasts contributes to this. THANK YOU!

Bianca-
What a wonderful note! Thanks for writing and letting us know that we’re helping you become more effective.
I think the reason that a lot of this stuff works is that it’s all about people, whom you’ll find in any role you take, managerial or otherwise.
As a recent set of commercials says, it’s the Human element (Hu).
Glad you’re a member, target or not. If we’re serving you, we’re proud of the association.
